No beating around the bush... Here are 5 things you can do literally right now to make your day a little bit healthier.
1) Drink More Water
Every day, you want to aim to drink 1/2 your body weight in oz of water. For example, if you weigh 150lbs, you want to aim for 75oz of water.
It's super important to stay hydrated because it helps with circulation (your brain functions better) and helps flush toxins out of the body! If you're not used to drinking enough water, you may feel like you need to pee all day 😂
PRO TIP: Check how much water your water bottle holds and calculate how many bottles you need to drink - much easier to keep track this way! If you think you'll forget how many you have drank, keep track with selfies (they are time stamped) or go old school with a piece of tape on your bottle and marks with a pen.
2) Sweat it Out!
You had to know this was coming... Of course I am going to tell you to go exercise. It doesn't have to be fancy or complicated. A walk, run, or bodyweight workout is all it takes. As the saying goes, you are only one workout away from a good mood.
If you sweat today, share it with me! Tag me in an Insta story or DM me a sweaty selfie so I can cheer you on :)
3) Eat More Veggies
Eat more of any healthy food, for that matter. It's not always the "fun food", but consuming good nutrients is one of the best things you can do for your body. It is getting you healthy from the inside out. Bonus points if you make said food yourself.
4) Breathe
Well, obviously you should be breathing. What I mean with this one is a breathing exercise or guided meditation. I can do breathing exercises on my FitBit, which I absolutely love when I feel overwhelmed. There are so many you can do for free. Look one up on YouTube or set a phone timer for 2-5 minutes and focus on taking deep breaths.
If you're interested in guided meditations, check out Headspace. They offer a 7-Day free trial and their meditations are clear, easy to follow, and perfect for anyone looking to begin their meditation journey.
5) Put Your Phone Away
Yes, seriously. Stop scrolling and take a break. You don't need me to tell you how good this is for your mental health or sleep habits because I know you already know. This is just a gentle reminder!
Healthy habits don't start with grand workout plans, nutrition regimes, and intense challenges. The small actions we take consistently are what build a healthy lifestyle. You have the power to choose your actions everyday, and no choice is too small to make a difference. As long as you are trying, it's all that matters.
I hope you make healthy choices today because all I want is for you to feel a little stronger and a little more confident everyday. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it!
xoxo,
Jess
